How to book
If you try to make a booking and the system says 'CLOSED' you are trying to book on a day that has already gone, that is in the past. Check the day and month and either book for today, or a day in the future. When you click on 'Comphurst Cross Country Course Hire' go next to 'Online Entry' (the purple icon towards the top of that page), click, and pick a start time; this is the time that you intend to start riding. There is no time limit for your stay; you are welcome to stay for as long as you like. Select the number of horses/ponies you want to book for and click through the disclaimer and payment proceedures and then follow the booking process through. Once you have entered your details the majority will come up again when you book in the future, saving you time in future. The booking system works best from a PC or laptop rather than a phone or iPad. We are open everyday all day during the season, weather permitting.
If you have taken out CXC Membership your fee will be £20 for each horse that the member rides on the course. Each rider MUST have membership in order to claim the reduced fee. So a member can book for a non-member but is only entitled to claim the reduced rate for themselves, not the non-member.
The fee for non-members is £25 per horse.
On the day of your booking, you will be sent a code for the entrance gate to allow you access.
Drive in, park and enjoy your time here. If you have any queries, please ring Tanya on 07541032398
If you have a large lorry or HGV and the conditions are wet, enter at the gate off the A271 by the pink building (the old dairy, signposted 'Louis Engineering' and 'CXC'). Drive past the pink building, turn left, drive through the gate. Please park lorries with the front facing, and up close to, the barn, in a herring-bone fashion. Park HGVs along the field side of the car-park. To exit, reverse, straighten , drive down the hill to the left and leave by the gate at the top of the drive.
If you have a 3.5 ton lorry or trailer, please enter by PGL, through the gate and park in the field straight ahead. Park facing down the hill. Do not go past the tree if conditions are wet.
In the unlikely event that you will require an emergency vehicle, the postcode for the stables field is BN274TX (vehicles come along the lane to Comphurst by the side of The Horseshoe pub and gain access via the field gate from the lane) and the postcode for the parking field is BN274RZ (access is via the main gate from the A271 next to PGL). If you are booking for a group, it is the responsibility of the person booking to ensure that all the people who will be riding are competent users of the facilities and that they are each fully aware of the terms of the disclaimer. When booking online, the person making the booking and the payment accepts responsibility for informing the riders that he/she has booked for of the terms and conditions of the disclaimer, and that they are competent users of the facilities. In turn, it is a condition of riding that all riders accept the terms and conditions of the disclaimer in order to ride at Comphurst Farm. All riders must be competent at using the facilities at Comphurst Cross Country. If you are in any doubt, disclaimer forms are available at the gate entrance to the XC course.
Here at Comphurst we love dogs. However, in the past I have picked up several dog 'poo bags' that irresponsible owners have placed under jumps, found dog mess on the course and have witnessed a loose dog in the middle of Comphurst Field, as well as a loose dog in the car park. None of these are acceptable. If people cannot behave responsibly regarding dogs we will have to ban them.
Spectators, Children and Dogs; Health and Safety Policy
For health and safety reasons, we must insist that unmounted children who are accompanying riders are supervised at a ratio of 1 adult per child, and that adults take care to ensure that children are closely supervised and are safe at all times, and do not present a hazard to other users of the facilities. We also insist that it is a condition of using the facilities at Comphurst Farm that all spectators watch at a safe distance from horses. Children on foot must not play on the jumps or in the water. Dogs are welcome if they are on short leads at all times and their owners must clear up after them.
Whilst we welcome spectators, children and dogs we must insist that people behave responsibly to ensure the safety of everyone as working with, riding and being in close proximity with horses/ponies is potentially a dangerous pursuit. We'd like to thank everyone for their understanding.
