CAMP 1 18th-20th May; Cost; £260

Book in at https://www.equineaffairs.com/eventdetails.aspx?id=343337

This camp is targetted at people who want to, or who are, competing at heights varying from 80cm to 1.10m.

We want to offer you a chance to get to grips with all aspects of eventing with training from qualified professionals with an emphasis on how to get the best out of you and your horse/pony.

Training will be as bespoke as possible, focussing on your goals and what you want to achieve. So, typically, training sessions can focus on improving technique, building on confidence for horse and rider, finding out what the dressage judge is looking for, tackling skinnies and corners, going clear in the show jumping.

Proposed outline

Day 1; arrive, settle in.

Ride a dressage test that is judged by a BD judge. Work on aspects of the test/way of going in an arena set up with boards with a BD Coach, then ride the test again. If you'd prefer, train instead of test riding. Individual session.

Show jumping session with a BE Coach over our full set of FEI jumps in a roped grass arena. Paired session.

Hack over the farm and Herstmonceaux Castle bridlepaths.

Day 2

Speed training; improving your technique so that you get the cross country time, over a measured and flagged track.

Cross Country session with BE Coach in a group working at similar levels.

Optional flatwork session

Day 3

One Day Event

A low-key simulated event, where you ride a dressage test of your choice and have it marked by a BD judge, with full verbal feed back. Then have help with warming up for your show jumping,  jump a full course of show jumps in a roped arena and have feed back from a BE Coach. Then the final stage is to jump round a flagged and numbered course, aiming to go clear within the time.

Tea and coffee facilities will be available each day (with biscuits; bring your own mug) in the barn area, where there will also be a microwave, toaster and fridge for your use. You are welcome to stay, either in your tent or lorry, and to BBQ and enjoy the farm. A local small hotel (5 minutes drive; 01323 842893) is offering a 10% discount to Comphurst Campers. Limited stabilng is available at £40 per night, which includes bedding, water and haylage.
